Cabinet approves release of an additional installment of DA to Central Government employees and DR to Pensioners, due from 1.1.2019 Posted On: 19 FEB 2019 9:22PM by PIB Delhi The Union Cabinet chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi has given its approval to the release of an additional instalment of Dearness Allowance (DA) to Central Government employees, and Dearness Relief (DR) to pensioners w.e.f. 1.1.2019 representing an increase of 3% over the existing rate of 9% of the Basic Pay/Pension, to compensate for price rise. This increase is in accordance with the accepted formula, which is based on the recommendations of the 7th Central Pay Commission (CPC). The combined impact on the exchequer on account of both DA and DR would be Rs. 9168.12 crore per annum and Rs. 10696.14 crore in the FY 2019-20 (for a period of 14 months from January 2019 to February, 2020).This will benefit about 48.41 lakh Central Government employees and 62.03 lakh pensioners.

Very Important : Notice regarding updation of Mobile numbers at CIF level

Dear All, This unit is receiving huge number of complaints regarding non-receipt of SMS alerts for the transactions done by POSB customers which is resulting in misappropriation of funds. Respective counter PA and Supervisor will be held responsible in case if any ATM card is issued without updating valid mobile number at CIF level. If not updated by 15 Feb 2019, all the ATM cards without mobile number at CIF level will be blocked centrally by NAU without any prior notice. Hence below mentioned message should be prominently displayed in notice board, counters, DOP ATM premises and where ever feasible in regional language as well as in English. "Dear POSB customer, Please get your mobile number updated at your home branch PO immediately for receiving SMS alerts. Gratuity limit for employees increased from 10 lakh to Rs 20 lakh

Union Minister Piyush Goyal on Friday said the government has increased the the gratuity limit to Rs. 20 lakh. "The ceiling of payment of gratuity has been enhanced from Rs. 10 lakh to Rs. 20 lakh. During the last five years the minimum wages of labourers of the all categories have been increased by 42 per cent, which is the highest ever," read Mr Goyal's speech for interim budget 2019-20. The government had in Budget 2018-19 increased the gratuity limit by Rs. 10 lakh to Rs. Rs. 20 lakh. The Payment of Gratuity Act, 1972 is applicable to employees who have completed at least five years of continuous service in an establishment of 10 or more persons.

Income tax slab in Budget 2019: No tax for income up to Rs 5 lakh, says Piyush Goyal

New Delhi: Finance Minister Piyush Goyal thanked all taxpayer and said benefits of tax reforms should be passed on to taxpayers, said Goyal. the FM proposed to increase the income tax exemption limit from current Rs 2.5 lakh to Rs 5 lakh. "Individual taxpayers having annual income upto 5 lakhs will get full tax rebate," Goyal said. The tax relief will benefit nearly 3 crore taxpayers. This is not all, the FM also proposed to increase the standard deduction, reintroduced last year, to Rs 50,000 from Rs 40,000. This will reduce the taxable income of salaried individuals further. Presently, banks deduct TDS (tax deductible at source) on fixed deposit interest of over Rs 10,000 in a year. Piyush Goyal has proposed to increase this exemption limit to Rs 40,000. This proposal will benefit senior citizens who mainly depend on interest income form post office, banks and other small savings schemes.
